nigel-katana-small The Martial Arts Education Centre was founded in 2002 by Dr Nigel Farrier.

Having been teaching within the Mandurah area in a variety of halls since 1996 he decided to take the plunge and rent a unit and the Martial Arts Education Centre was started.

Since then the centre has grown and is now housed in its own purpose built unit in Rouse Road, Mandurah.

The growth has continued and it is now one of Mandurahs largest martial arts studios with excellent amenities and boasts changing rooms and shower facilities.

FREE LESSONS

The Martial Arts Education Centre prides itself on its friendly and safe learning environment. Because of this we are able to offer all new students their first two lessons completely FREE of charge.

This means that you can try out the martial arts, whether it be a Shotokan based karate, Japanese style ju jitsu or Okinawan kobudo, without having any financial outlay.

IMA Regional Director

Nigel has been appointed the WA Regional Director for the International Martial Arts Alliance

Chief Instructor Dr Nigel Farrier

Dr Nigel Farrier is the founder and chief instructor of the Martial Arts Education Centre. His career started in the early 1990s in Shotokan Karate and rapidly expanded to include Kobudo (weapons) and Japanese Ju Jitsu.

He now has black belts in 5 styles up to Yondan (4th degree black belt).

He teaches just about all of the classes but has excellent support and help from his group of black belts. You can read more about these people under the ‘Instructor’ section in ‘About Us’

KICK-A-THON a SUCCESS

On Sunday March 22nd we held our kickathon to raise money for the Peel Health Foundation and the new Childrens Ward at the local hospital.

It looks like our final total will be $8541.00!!!. This is a fantastic job and I would like to thank everybody who participated to make this such a wonderful event. Pictures can be seen in our photo gallery (click on Pictures above). More on this (and some videos!) by clicking here

DVDs FOR SALE

We now have available for sale a range of DVDs. The first one is on the Sai. The next group are the first 7 DVDs covering our Ju Jitsu syllabus (from yellow to Brown belt so far) with the brown belt black tip syllabus due for completion soon.

Saturday classes have finished

Saturday morning classes have been trialled and do not seem to have the patronage that I was hoping for so I have ceased these for the moment.

I will, however, be using this time for black and brown belt instruction especially for instructors so that they can continue to learn new things. Times will be by negotiation.
